Uniforms

All students must be in uniform every day. There will be out-of-uniform days which will be announced during the course of the school year (a dress code for such days is included in this section). If there is a time when the prescribed uniform cannot for some legitimate reason be worn, a note from the parent/guardian must be written to the Teacher/Principal. Students who are out of uniform without this excuse will be sent to the office.
Grades 3-8 PE Requirements
There is a special PE uniform (shorts and T-shirt) for Physical Education classes, to be purchased through the SBS Physical Education Department. Children have the option of wearing the solid black laced, athletic uniform shoe or an alternative laced, athletic shoe for this class. In cold weather, solid navy sweatpants with no logo or decoration may be worn during PE.
Spirit Day Guidelines
Spirit attire is accepted on these days.
•Students must wear nice jeans (or any approved uniform bottoms)
•tennis shoes
•SBS approved T-shirt (T-shirts associated with Saint Benedict Catholic School student activities, such as Raven Run, Christmas Program T-shirts, German Fest, Spirit shirts, etc.).

Brownie/Scout Uniforms
Students may wear their scout uniforms on meeting days
After school practices
Students must remain in school uniform when possible. Sports related practices should be limited to an appropriate fitting T-shirt and shorts containing a 5 inch inseam. No rolling of waistband allowed. Tucking T-shirts in is permitted, however students may not “knot” or “tie” T-shirts. Sweatpants are approved in cooler months. SHOES MUST BE WORN AT ALL TIMES WHEN ON CAMPUS!
Your child may receive a Uniform Infraction Form should he/she not be in compliance with the policy. Students who repeatedly violate the uniform policy will be denied participation in the next Spirit Day or will serve a detention.
Uniform Infractions may be issued by any faculty/staff personnel on SBS campus for any previously listed notation.
Modest attire required at any and all Saint Benedict Catholic School related functions.
Good Rule: If you must question whether or not to wear it- DON’T.

Hair
All students’ hair should be neat with bangs above the eyebrows. Boy’s hair should be no longer than the middle of the ear and above the shirt collar. Hair coloring/highlighting/bleaching is not permitted. Scrunchies, hair clips, rubber bands, etc. must be in the hair and coordinate with a color from the uniform. Girls may wear holiday and special occasion ribbons. Ribbons must not exceed the length of hair. No “hair wraps” (except for the week following SBCS German Festival)
Cosmetics/Polish
Light cosmetics allowed in the second semester for 8h grade girls only. No heavy/dark colors permitted. (Your child may be asked to remove unacceptable cosmetics/polish. Three infractions over a semester period will result in the loss of this privilege.)
Jewelry
All students are limited to one watch (non-beeping), one ring, one necklace (a simple cross or holy medal only), and one spiritual bracelet. Girls may wear one pair of “stud” earrings. Boys are not permitted to wear earrings. No silly bands or distracting jewelry allowed. Your child may be asked to remove any items deemed unacceptable.
No Sunglasses or caps/hats unless school wide day permitted
Logos:
Only SBS approved logo allowed on any article of clothing. ALL CLOTHING ITEMS MUST FIT APPROPRIATELY.
Blouses/Shirts
All shirts should be clean and neat as well as completely buttoned (excluding the top button only). All student shirttails should remain tucked in at all times with the belt, waist band showing (even when wearing sweaters, jackets, and any form of outerwear).
Undershirts
Only solid white permitted (no logos, colors, patterns prints etc.)
Belts
Navy or black solid/braided leather belts required for all pants, shorts with loops, buckles must be simple and not exceed the width of the belt (K-8).
Approved plaid items
Length must be no less than two inches above the knee when measuring from both the front and the back.
Navy shorts/pants
Logo free, navy uniform shorts/pants worn at the waist (no cargo, carpenter, boot cut, low rise, etc. permitted.
Socks
Solid white, mid-calf crew sock or higher (no logos, emblems, “no see ums” or “footies”, etc. permitted)
Tights/Leggings
Solid navy or white only, to be worn with solid white socks.
Shoes
Solid black “Mary Jane” (If wearing “Mary Jane” shoe, 2-8 girls will need an athletic shoe for PE). Solid black athletic shoe with black laces (velcro required for PreK-K; 1st grade may transition to laces if capable of tying independently).
Classroom Wear
Navy sweaters, cardigans, vests, and sweatshirts are allowed inside classrooms. No hoodies, pocketed sweatshirts, oversized items, or hoods of any kind allowed. All items MUST be solid Navy, no logos (other than SBS approved), prints (Ex. camo.), patterns, decorations, adornments, collegiate, or other school logos permitted. Students may wear these items outside as well.
Outside Wear
Solid navy jackets, with or without hoods permitted. All items MUST be solid Navy, no logos (other than SBS approved), prints (ex. camo.) patterns, decorations, adornments, collegiate, or school logos permitted. Any outerwear (jackets, gloves, winter hats, scarves, etc.) approved during extreme cold.
