SBS was the first Catholic elementary school in the country to be chosen by www.collegeboard.com The College Board for a guest teacher from China. SBS was the first and may still be the only school in Alabama to have a College Board guest teacher from China. SBS's Chinese Program received national news coverage on www.msnbc.msn.com/id/21134540/vp/22856083 when Mr. Wang arrived at SBS.  SBS's Chinese Program enabled it to be selected as one of only twelve recipients of the Catholic Schools for Tomorrow Award for Innovation in Education. SBS was recently approved by the Chinese government to open The Gulf Coast Confucius Classroom at Saint Benedict School - Mr. Fred Wang will return to SBS and serve as its Executive Director.
